- Plumb was built by developers from EasyA on VeChain and it rewards users with B3TR tokens for sustainable shopping efforts.
- It emerged fourth in the VeChain and BCG’s hackathon in San Francisco and was developed by serial blockchain entrepreneurs Clive Tsungu and Tom Rowbotham.
The VeChain ecosystem has witnessed a rise in platforms that reward users for engaging in sustainable efforts as the network continues dominating the sector. The latest, Plumb, rewards users for making sustainable shopping choices.
Plumb was among the projects that emerged from the VeChain hackathon in San Francisco, which was organized in partnership with the Web3 developer education platform EasyA. As we reported, the hackathon was won by VeFe, a dApp that rewards sustainable living.
Plumb has now launched officially and is rewarding users for sustainable shopping decisions.

With Plumb, once a user shops and pays at a merchant store, they scan the payment QR code with the app and get rewarded with B3TR tokens instantly. Additionally, Plumb comes with its point-of-sale (POS) app with which users can pay and accept payments. The system also accepts fiat payments, ensuring that non-crypto clients aren’t left out.
Ordinarily, once users accumulate B3TR tokens, they can exchange them for VOT3 tokens and participate in decision-making in the VeBetterDAO ecosystem. This became possible recently after the launch of the VeBetterDAO mainnet, as Crypto News Flash reported.
However, with Plumb, users can redeem these tokens for gift cards and other rewards. What’s more, Plumb doesn’t require users to have a Web3 wallet to participate, further lowering the barriers to entry.
While all the platforms on VeBetterDAO target lucrative markets, Plumb’s target is one of the largest in the world. Today, over 2.64 billion people shop online, accounting for at least a third of the global population. Global e-commerce sales hit $6.34 trillion and are expected to grow even more this year.
VeChain Pushes Sustainability
Plumb is the latest of a growing lineup of platforms pushing for sustainability on VeChain. The Layer 1 network, despite being 39th for market cap, punches way above its weight in real-world applications and usage, and sustainability is its biggest area of application.
VeChain sustainability apps target every other field, from community cleanups with Cleanify to sustainable caffeine consumption with MugShot. These platforms reward users with B3TR tokens, incentivizing them to keep contributing to a better world.
Incentives are the key to this model. While everyone wants a better future, few are motivated to play a part in achieving this. Incentives change the game, giving people short-term gains for participating in long-term prosperity.
Meanwhile, VET gained 3.5% in the past day to take its weekly gains to 22.6%, the fourth-highest among the top 100 coins, only bettered by MOG, Maker and Aave. It currently trades at $0.0293.
