Tom Holland, X Account Hacked, SpiderVerse, NFTs, Cryptocurrency, Spider-Man

Tom Holland has often dominated headlines for his films and is most known for his depiction of Spider-Man in the Marvel franchise. In the latest, the actor is in the news not for his work but for an online scam he got embroiled in. Reportedly, Tom Holland’s X handle was hacked, and what’s worse is that the fraudsters were trying to promote cryptocurrency investment using his name.

Fans of Tom Holland were taken aback when the actor appeared to make a cryptic post on social networking platform X regarding a merger with cryptocurrency platform Binance on April 16. The now-deleted tweet recommended his followers sign up for early access to a new digital currency dubbed $SPIDER coin and Spiderverse NFTs, which were allegedly related to a SpiderVerse project.

Reportedly, Tom Holland is known for his limited social media activity, and therefore, the unusual post promoting cryptocurrency created confusion among his fans. This eventually led his followers to believe that his account had been hacked. Moreover, an unknown man’s selfie appeared on the actor’s X profile as well but was deleted later suggesting that it could be the hacker.

One of his fans who was concerned about the actor promoting cryptocurrency stated, “Wait, so Tom wasn’t being serious about the NFT BS thing?! Oh, thank goodness because I was about to get heartbroken by that post and also damn that sucks.” While another fan clarified, “Guys, Tom Holland does not own the rights to Spiderverse. Marvel does. This is clearly some kind of hack or other scam.”
